BubbleWatch: ABC's 'Surviving Suburbia'
SHOW: "Surviving Suburbia" (ABC)
IN ITS FAVOR: It's ABC's highest-rated comedy series, so you can't entirely rule it out, can you? Plus, it's gotta be cheap. It looks cheap.
AGAINST IT: What percentage of the "Surviving Suburbia" audience is just people forgetting to turn their TVs off after "Dancing with the Stars"? We'd like to believe "100%." Critics were not impressed and losing half of its lead-in every week isn't exactly awe-inspiring.
OUR GUESS: On one hand, it's hard to imagine ABC renewing what was basically a lark to begin with (The CW jettisoned the show when the netlet's Sunday night MRC deal fell apart). On the other hand, it's also hard to imagine ABC outright canceling what's certain to end the season as its top-rated comedy. If "According to Jim" can live forever as filler programming, renewal for "Surviving Suburbia" is disturbingly plausible.
THE VERDICT: Limbo. ABC will air the rest of the episodes later this summer and the network still has an option to bring the show back
