BubbleWatch: FOX's 'Lie to Me'
SHOW: "Lie to Me" (FOX)
IN ITS FAVOR: "Lie to Me" was an "Idol"-inflated semi-hit from the beginning, but after moving to the 8 p.m. hour, the show has continued to regularly win its timeslot, albeit with far, far lower ratings against negligible competition. Don't underestimate how much FOX wants to stay in business with Tim Roth and with Imagine Entertainment, the show's producers.
AGAINST IT: "Lie to Me" may be winning its timeslot, but that would end if CBS decided to schedule any random "CSI" repeat in the slot. The ratings are that soft. And they're dwindling, albeit slowly. "Lie to Me" isn't a bad show at all, but few people are passionate about it.
OUR GUESS: This one will probably go down to the wire. Does "Lie to Me" continue to siip in its remaining airings? Does FOX's drama development look strong? It's hard to imagine FOX being enthusiastic about bringing "Lie to Me" back, but its ratings aren't bad.
THE VERDICT: FOX has renewed "Lie to Me" for a second season.
