Which shows won't make it back?
BubbleWatch: 'The Carrie Diaries'
SHOW: "The Carrie Diaries" (The CW)
IN ITS FAVOR: Well, The CW likes the show, largely because Warner Brothers TV likes the property. There was no good reason for The CW to renew "The Carrie Diaries" last year either, but there was value in having a "Sex and the City"-related series on air. It doesn't hurt that "Carrie" has some critical/fan support. Darnit, it's a good show! Plus, "The Carrie Diaries" is yet another CW show that, percentage-wise, does good DVR numbers.
AGAINST IT: Granted that "The Carrie Diaries" was in a no-win position on Friday nights, but 832,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49 don't cut it, even for a network that doesn't especially care about live ratings. The CW hoped that a summer of occasional repeats, plus the addition of Samantha to the core cast might give "Carrie Diaries" a bump. It didn't work.
OUR TOTALLY UNINFORMED GUESS: "The Carrie Diaries" has a slightly better chance at renewal than "Beauty and the Beast," with an infinitesimally larger audience in a much tougher time period. But "Beauty" gets a bigger overall DVR bump, so maybe that give it an advantage? Really, neither show is likely to be back.
FINAL VERDICT: Cancelled.
