BubbleWatch: The CW's 'Hart of Dixie'
SHOW: "Hart of Dixie" (The CW)
IN ITS FAVOR: With a 50 percent DVR bump, "Hart of Dixie"soars to a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 and with a 39 percent bump, it rises to an average viewership of just under 2 million. Don't scoff. By CW standards, those are fairly reasonable numbers, especially for a show that leads off a night. "Hart of Dixie" remains steady, on-brand and a reasonable factory for young talent on The CW. Plus, the show has been solidly appealing in its second season, settling into a creative vibe that keeps getting closer to its "Southern Gilmore Girls" aspirations.
AGAINST IT: No matter how you buff and polish the numbers, it's not like they're suddenly robust. If they were robust, The CW would have renewed "Hart of Dixie" with its other no-brainers. It just seems like a cheap and steady show to stick with while the network attempts to develop more legitimate hits. If The CW were absurdly pleased with its development, "Hart of Dixie" might be in some jeopardy.
OUR TOTALLY UNINFORMED GUESS: Barring the chance that every pilot comes in perfect and tests through the roof and The CW decides there's value in rolling the dice in a major way, "Hart of Dixie" seems like it should return without much trouble.
FINAL VERDICT: Renewed!
