BubbleWatch: The CW's 'Hellcats'
SHOW: "Hellcats" (The CW)
IN ITS FAVOR: For a brief period in the fall, it looked like The CW had found a drama that paired properly with "America's Next Top Model," as well as a drama capable of delivering some always-welcome sexy buzz to the network schedule (not that The CW has ever lacked for that kind of buzz, but it can't hurt to have more). The series has a red carpet-friendly cast and it fits in very well with The CW's brand/ethos.
AGAINST IT: Unfortunately, ratings dropped enough that The CW pushed "Hellcats" over to Tuesday and gave its time period to "Shedding for the Wedding." [Oddly, although it isn't in this gallery, "Shedding for the Wedding" drew big-ish numbers for its finale and may stumble into a second season.] Since it began showing on Tuesdays, "Hellcats" has been getting clobbered and its most recent episode fell to under a million viewers. That's a bad sign.
OUR TOTALLY UNINFORMED GUESS: As much as we love our weekly guilty pleasure dose of prancing cheerleaders and embarrassingly bad Memphis accents (from the people who bother) and Vancouver-for-Tennessee substitutions, "Hellcats" probably won't return.
Final Verdict: The CW canceled "Hellcats."
