BubbleWatch: FOX's 'The Chicago Code'
SHOW: "The Chicago Code" (FOX)
IN ITS FAVOR: Strong reviews, strong cast and a strong showrunner in Shawn Ryan haven't necessarily led to strong ratings, but the numbers after "House" haven't been bad.
AGAINST IT: FOX promoted the snot out of "The Chicago Code," through the NFL regular season, the playoffs and the Super Bowl. It could be reasonably surmised that if all of that promotion didn't let the show find its mark, nothing will.
OUR TOTALLY UNINFORMED GUESS: Smart money says FOX is going to have room for one drama between "The Chicago Code," "Lie to Me" and "Human Target." Probably of that trio, "Chicago Code" is the one with the most critical support and and the one that has had the least time to prove that it can't find an audience. We're feeling OK about a renewal, but maybe we just refuse to believe that Ryan could have this and "Terriers" both canceled after 13 episodes within a year.
Final Verdict: FOX canceled "The Chicago Code."
