BubbleWatch: The CW's 'Nikita'
SHOW: "Nikita" (The CW)
IN ITS FAVOR: It's not a big fanbase, but "Nikita" devotees are a passionate lot, as anybody who has ever dared to make fun of Shane West's growly lead performance is sure to quickly discover. Assisted more than a little by "The Vampire Diaries," "Nikita" ranks among The CW's more-watched dramas and has put comfortable distance between itself and fellow first-year offering "Hellcats." Plus, stars Maggie Q and Lyndsy Fonseca still have breakout potential.
AGAINST IT: Ratings for "Nikita" started off extremely high and have fallen sharply as the season progressed. There's no chance The CW is going to waste the prime "Vampire Diaries" lead-in for "Nikita" next season, so CW brass will at least temporarily wonder if this one can stand on its own.
OUR TOTALLY UNINFORMED GUESS: If The CW is giving serious consideration to keeping "One Tree Hill" around for another wheel-spinning season, there's no doubt "Nikita" will return, perhaps as an action-oriented Friday companion to "Supernatural"?
Final Verdict: The CW renewed "Nikita."
