BubbleWatch: CBS' 'Numb3rs'
IN ITS FAVOR: The math procedural has been a reliable performer for CBS for six seasons. CBS learned exactly how reliable "Numb3rs" has been when "Miami Medical" failed to generate even slightly comparable ratings this spring.
AGAINST IT: "Numb3rs" is expensive and its demos were dwindling and CBS sent a very clear signal in cutting the show's episode order this year. Stars Rob Morrow and David Krumholtz read that signal and both have booked pilot leads this development season.
OUR TOTALLY UNINFORMED GUESS: It feels like a mistake to us, but CBS seems unlikely to bring "Numb3rs" back, leading the network's Friday extremely vulnerable, except that no other network has the scripted resources to make a legitimate play for the night next fall.
