10 TV shows we want to see back on the small screen
Which classic series are headed to the remake factory next?
'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century'
Premise: Based on the character created by Philip Francis Nowlan in 1928, the 1979 TV series updated Buck's story to find our hero as a 1980's NASA space shuttle astronaut. After a freak accident, he's frozen in hibernation for hundreds of years drifting in space. When his craft is discovered and he awakens, it's the 25th Century and the world has completely changed from what he remembers. Earth has now been rebuilt after a devastating nuclear war and is in contact with alien races from around the universe.
Original airdates: 1979-1981
Why a reboot: The fish out of water concept has been proven effective in many series and the "this is a vision of a possible future" aspect of the show could certainly play today. Given how strong genre TV has been recently and the advancement of CG effects (see the "Battlestar Galactica" reboot) Buck could be a lot more successful in the 21st Century than the 20th.

October 28, 2012 at 4:16AM EST Reply to CommentI loved shows like Mr. Ed,The Jeffersons,& the sitcom from England called Are You Being Served? Even the old game shows,What's My Line?,Beat the Clock,The Names the Same,To Tell the Truth,& I've Got a Secret were a riot to watch!!! Even though they were in the 1950s you'd be laughing at the panel or guests. Also Match Game was excellent from the 1970s. Bring all of these back. What laughter we need in life ????
Jenny I had meant we need laughter in our lives!!! ????

October 28, 2012 at 10:45AM EST Reply to CommentFox already did an X-Files reboot in the form of Fringe. And while I enjoy the latter, it's clear that the former worked so well because of the chemistry between its leads.
And I'd enjoy a Quantum Leap reboot if only to redo that cheesy opening/theme AND to do a proper finale rather than that AWFUL one we were given.

October 30, 2012 at 11:19AM EST Reply to CommentTwin Peaks would be one I'd like to see, but only David Lynch would be able to pull that off. The show would require his very unique touch of surrealism that nobody else could do. And David has already said he has no plans of revisiting that little quirky town again.
