Which Tim Burton and Brian DePalma films made the cut?
By the time this movie happened, both critics and audiences were ready to offer writer-director M. Night Shyamalan's career as a sacrifice to the movie gods. And, almost from frame one, the tonal disaster "The Happening" played out even worse than most expected it to be. Instead of scared and awestruck, stars Zooey Deschanel and Mark Wahlberg look confused and somnambulant, while the film's killer foliage is almost impossible not to snicker at. The film's one saving grace is the picturesque cinematography by Jonathan Demme regular Tak Fujimoto (who also shot Shyamalan's "Signs"), but he wouldn't exactly want to highlight it on his resume.
