Love Jones (1997)
Plot: A hunky poet and a beautiful photographer living in Chicago attempt to discern whether their mutual attraction is merely sexual or something more.
What's in it for guys: While it may sound like a traditional romantic comedy on paper, "Love Jones" is a smart and sophisticated relationship film with dialogue that actually approximates how real people talk. This is no wish-fulfillment chick flick, either, as we're given just as much insight into the guy's state of mind (Larenz Tate) as we are that of his paramour (a fantastic Nia Long, giving off that "smart-sexy" vibe).
What's in it for girls: While the Larenz Tate eye candy-factor is certainly a bonus, "Love Jones" is also a fun, sexy and thoughtful romp through the ups and downs of a (relatively) modern relationship.
