5. "Twister" - Dad Flies Away
Jan de Bont's 1996 tornado actioner starts things off right, setting up the story's main character (and the genesis of her storm-chasing obsession) with a harrowing moment in a storm cellar. As young Jo's father holds tight to the cellar door with a twister raging overhead, the hinges suddenly pry loose and he is sucked straight up into the vortex. Traumatic, to say the least.
