Paula Abdul's unhappy goodbye to 'American Idol'
After years of threatening to move on like the little boy who cried wolf, the former pop star finally had enough of production company Freemantle Media's low contract offers and to the shock of everyone -- including broadcasting network FOX -- decided to pack her bags and leave "American Idol." In so doing "AI" is now without its biggest contestant cheerleader and unpredictable diva. More problematic is that her departure will shine a light on just how boring Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi really are. Who will be the ying to Simon Cowell's yang? "Idol" has five months to figure it out.
