A man of many faces

We've come to expect the unexpected from Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp. Known for his dashing good looks and quirky character choices, the actor has had a long and fruitful career, often teaming up multiple times with the same directors such as Gore Verbinski, Terry Gilliam and, most notably, Tim Burton. With his "Rum Diary" in theaters this month, and another Burton film ("Dark Shadows") on the horizon, HitFix thought it was time to take a look at Depp's ten best performances. Tell us if you agree -- or if you think we've gone completely sideways, man.

Depp will probably end up being an actor who wins an Oscar for playing a boring mundane role. He should have been awarded several times over by now.
