3. Animators are still strict on performance capture.
All season it has been a talking point that performance capture could keep films like "Happy Feet Two," "Mars Needs Moms" and, more specifically, "The Adventures of Tintin" from a Best Animated Feature Film nomination. When the titles were read off, traditional animation ruled the day, as films like "A Cat in Paris" and "Chico & Rita" were nominated alongside CG offerings like "Kung Fu Panda 2," "Puss in Boots" and "Rango." The name of "Spielberg" wasn't enough to overcome that bias. --Kristopher Tapley
