The Lists: In Contention's Top 10 Scary PG-Rated Films
With Halloween around the corner, we revisit some less explicit horrors
Another Halloween, another horror movie list. Or not. Where most such lists are dominated by grisly R-rated fare many fully-grown men can scarcely endure, we think it's worth remembering that it's not only adults who like being spooked in the cinema. Today's list rounds up ten films -- not all of them thrillers, not all of kid-tailored -- that children are nonetheless free to watch. Of course, most of the films on your list were released before there was a PG-13 rating; I'd be interested in a newer list of scary films that actually DO have current PG ratings.

The creepy mirrors with the blind-folded little girl, Bette Davis and her creepiness, and just the whole vibe of the thing. I saw this, in the theater, when I was eight. EIGHT. Horrifying.

Ha, I remember being about 5 and going to see Furngulley with my Dad and seeing just a preview for it and being so scared by the make-up I started screaming over and over again until we had to leave theater.
