With the studio's 13th feature on the way we take stock of the studio's best

10. "Brave" (Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman, 2012)
Pixar's latest is the lowest on the totem pole, but not for lack of trying. "Brave" is actually a really touching film that tells a very human story about family and the ties that bind. It features some of the studio's most beautiful animation to date (indeed, neck and neck with the #1 film on this list where that's concerned), but ultimately the film comes across a bit more like top-tier Disney than top-tier Pixar, lacking the thematic density of latter's output. Nevertheless, it still beats the likes of "A Bug's Life," "Cars" and "Cars 2" by a country mile, so it deserves a place on the list, albeit at the bottom.

Always struggled a bit with ratatouille but agree its one of the most beautifully animated. The incredibles is the one that improves time after time for me. And If you took just the first 10 minutes of Up, you would have one of the most beautifully realised pieces of animation coupled with narrative. Agree it falls down later in the movie, but I'll never forget being in the cinema and hearing a little girl behind me saying 'mummy, why is the nice man sad' and realising her mum was going to have her first conversation about death with her daughter at the end of the film, but on the back of something that showed how to come out the other side.
Theo Batman Rises will conclude the second franchise in 3, 2, 1 week...
