9. Daryl Hannah, "Blade Runner"
“A basic pleasure model” who could have been little more than a somewhat forgettable sketch, Hannah instead painted a vivid portrait of a doll come to life. There are those who would detract from what she brought to the role, yet when I think of “Blade Runner” hers is one of the first images that springs (pun inevitable) into my consciousness. She is innocence in its most sinister form in one moment and it’s most sublime in the next. She is a vision of A.I. that seems remarkably authentic to what I imagine it would be in its earliest stages: dangerously childlike with power beyond its own comprehension. It is, after all, created in our image.
