7. "Django Unchained" (Quentin Tarantino, The Weinstein Company - December 25)
Does the premise sound ridiculous and bordering on inappropriate? Absolutely. But is there any other director who can pull off ridiculous and bordering on inappropriate like Quentin Tarantino? I have confidence in him, even when his work is otherwise over-the-top and/or uneven, to be wonderfully creative, never boring and showcase top-notch acting. While sometimes his films as a whole add up to less than the sum of their parts, so many of those parts are absolutely top-notch. --Gerard Kennedy
