Wonderful list as always. I saw Raging Bull as young teen. It was the first film where I became keenly aware of and awed by the craft behind what I was watching. In many ways, my love affair with movies starts right there.

Guy Lodge Thanks -- I'm so pleased you like the list, and am glad we share a formative film in Raging Bull.

Just a note: we'd prefer readers to comment back at the original post at In Contention, so that the conversation can be as active as possible. I know it's confusing!

Wonderful list. So happy you made a shout-out to "Kundun." I would also include Gabriel's score for "The Last Temptation of Christ." And I think I may be an exception to the rule: Kundun ties with Last Temptation as my favorite Scorsese films :-)
