What they bring: Cate Blanchett raked in shared kudos for "The Aviator" and Anderson's "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" throughout the 2004 awards season. She's an interesting entry in the troupe, bringing a sense of balance to the equation. Also starring in "Zissou" was Jeff Goldblum, who seems a natural for the brand of humor in which Anderson trades, and indeed, he's a bright spot as Bill Murray's upscale rival. He could have been used a lot more, actually, but perhaps he'll saddle up to another Anderson effort in the future.
