"The OC" (FOX)
Episode: "The Dearly Beloved"
The Big Question: How *awesome* is Imogen Heap? Oh and did Marissa kill Trey?
The second season of "The O.C." was mighty uneven and we can debate whether anything good really came from all the time we spent with future Tom Hardy doppleganger Logan Marshall-Green, but there's no debating that the finale's climax, set to Imogen Heap's "Hide & Seek" is one of the great combinations of music-and-action in recent TV history. Ryan shows up at Trey's to have it out with his brother about Trey's assault on Marissa and the stolen car that set the show's plot in motion. Trey pulls a gun. Brawling ensues. Each brother gets in some good licks, which is confusing, since they have the haircut. Trey gets the best of Ryan and is choking him as Marissa arrives. Fortunately, Trey's gun is on the floor and Marissa shots. BANG! Slo-mo! "Hide and Seek"! Is Trey dead? Will Marissa ever be the same? Somewhat ironically, the closing lines of the song as we go to credit are "You don't care a bit," which is probably why the show's next finale revolved around Marissa's death.
