HitFix ranks the franchise in time for 'Star Trek Into Darkness'
9. "Star Trek: Generations" (1994)
A changing of the guard, "Generations" was the first feature to center on the already-popular "Next Generation" crew. However, what should have been the ultimate fan moment was mostly met with audience shrugs when Kirk and Picard finally shared the screen together for a convoluted and contrived adventure that ends in anticlimax. Part of the problem may have been drafting "Next Generation" regular David Carson to direct, instead of searching for new blood. It's still the only feature on the TV vet's impressive resume. Fans would have to wait two years until "First Contact" awarded Picard, Data, Worf and the rest of the "TNG" crew a worthy big screen tale.
