And I am a big TVD fan.

November 15, 2012 at 11:01AM EST Reply to CommentWhen I first saw this show I was sceptical. But after watching it I found that I liked it. He isn't an abusive man, he's a troubled man with a horrible past who try to help when he can. And I can't wait to see more of this show.

December 20, 2012 at 1:35PM EST Reply to CommentI haven't seen the Chicago Fire show, and probably never will, but let me guess about the Characters. The toughest character is the Latino girl. The station is run by a woman or black American, and the stupid one is probably a white male.

January 18, 2013 at 4:41PM EST Reply to CommentI think you nailed it with Chicago Fire. IMHO the show is a mash up of other shows that were FAR better. The characters are repetive and cliche. They are all extrememly young (except for the commander) and pretty, which is too over the top and unrealistic for my tastes. They simply don't look qualified to do what they do. Maybe its the casting, writing, acting or a combination, but I have not developed any sympathy or compassion for them. If anything I'm indifferent. In order for me to be drawn in I need to find a connection with the characters and root for them. I gave it two and 1/2 views and moved on. Thankfully there is more out there to chose from. There are a lot of people that do/will like this show and if so they need to view it while its on the air. Networks like NBC, FOX and ABC are subject to cancel a show if it's viewer count doesnt satisfy the sponsors. I've been increasingly drawn to the cable shows as of late, because why invest when the show will likely be cancelled prematurely. Although being on NBC the show will have a better chance for survival than being on ABC who has the highest trigger finger cancellation rate of all. If they work on this show and improve it I might be inclined to watch it next season.

I just wanted to say that this was a great Best/Worst review! It was objective, introspective, insightful, and thought provoking. Nicely done!
I did like Vegas, but stopped watching because Quaid's permanently fixed scowl and over the top I'm bad don't mess with me approach to every scene he's in grew tiresome. I love the writing and premise of the show, but can't understand why the director doesn't ask him to tone it down a bit. It comes off like play acting. Quaid can play a bad A-- without the grinch look in every scene. I may give this another shot because I like the show and cast, but that's just annoying to look at as he is in 70% of the scenes.
I agree about Nashville. I simply love the show, and it would be successful even without the deluge of singing every episode. The storyline and acting is solid and simply a joy to watch.
