Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All
What Hit in 2011: Standout SXSW presence, Tyler, The Creator as Best New Artist at MTV VMAs for "Yonkers"
What's Next AND Lowdown: Odd Future are better known for their odd performances… and wild behavior and sometimes offensive public personas, but its members have managed to break out with the help of the larger name presence. After a bidding war post-SXSW (real and imagined), Odd Future formed its own record label to put out future projects. Before that, Tyler, The Creator and his album "Goblin" busted out as the brains of the crew. Singer Frank Ocean has become the voice, having collaborated and even written for artists like Beyonce, Drake, Nas and John Legend (Roc Nation is slowly figuring out how to promote his full-length in 2012). OFWGKTA's Syd Tha Kid and Matt Martians have formed The Internet, which will release their debut "Purple Naked Ladies" on Dec. 20 through Odd Future Records (with distro from RED). Hodgy Beats and Left Brain (as MellowHype) will release their album "Numbers" in 2012. Other configurations are to come. And Earl… where's Earl? Free Earl. Odd Future will be starring in their own Adult Swim live-action show "Loiter Squad" starting in 2012.
