Loser: The title of CBS' 'S#*!" My Dad Says'
At the CBS executive session, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler swore that the network hadn't gotten any advertising pushback to the coy title of the comedy "Feces My Dad Says." Just hours later, though, series star William Shatner left little doubt about his feelings regarding the censored title.
"Do you know what I wish? I wish they would call it "shit." What’s wrong with ... You know, you say to your... I’ve got grandchildren. I brought up three girls. They’ve all got kids. Okay? And you say 'Boopy doo-doo, you’ve got to make poo-poo. Come on. Make poo-poo in the toilet.' Eventually, 'poo-poo' becomes 'shit.' 'Go take a shit, and you’ll feel better.' You say that to your kids. The word 'shit' is around us. It isn’t a terrible term. It’s a natural function. Why are we pussyfooting?"
Well there you go. Meanwhile, just days later, the Parents Television Council made its latest push to caution advertisers about the title, making one wonder what possible advantage CBS has gained with the show's current title. Other than the publicity that comes with manufactured controversy. Ooops. Guess we answered our own question.
For now, the show remains officially titled "S#*!" My Dad Says."
