The Turner Cable Family had possibly the two biggest stories of the press tour in Conan O'Brien's move to TBS and Larry King's departure from his long-running CNN show. With well over 200 reporters assembled in Beverly Hills eager to give front page treatment to Conan and Larry, the Turner family said, "Thanks but no thanks."
If members of the TCA hadn't been among Conan's biggest defenders in the whole NBC kerfuffle, Turner's decision would have made sense, but we were nothing if not partisan and eager to write glowing "Conan prepares to return!" stories.
Instead, we wrote about "Jersey Shore" and TBS and CNN both squandered easy PR opportunities.
