First Appearance: Fantastic Four #52 (1966)
Why: When handled right, he's one of the coolest, most important characters in the Marvel Universe: a brilliant fighter and tactician who is also the ruler of the African nation of Wakanda, the most technologically-advanced country on the planet. Marvel has plans to develop a feature film around T'Challa; if "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." is a hit, they may view it as a seeding ground for characters who may not be famous enough to get their own solo movie straight out. A S.H.I.E.L.D. trip to Wakanda would also live up to promises by the producers that the series will try to have an international flair.
Why Not: Black Panther is easy and cheap to depict on the small-screen; Wakanda is decidedly not, and if you can't convey the grandeur of the nation T'Challa rules, you're missing the point of the
