Why: Michael Bay was everywhere this summer. He directed "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and produced "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" -- two of this summer's biggest hits. His Platinum Dunes produced the low-budget hit sequel "The Purge: Anarchy," which surpassed the original's box office. And that's not even factoring in his TV work, which includes the recently renewed TNT show "The Last Ship." "Extinction" may not have hit the domestic box office heights of the other "Transformers" films, but it's still one of the summer's top grossers and recently crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide. Whether you're a fan of his work or not, it's hard to argue the fact that Bay knows his audience.
