Who makes the top 10?
2. Man of Steel
Release date: June 14
Comparisons: "The Amazing Spider-Man" ($262 million), "The Dark Knight Rises" ($448.1 million), "Superman Returns" ($200 million)
Prediction: $300 million
Why: Do you believe a man can fly? How about punching a villain when it comes down to protecting the planet from certain doom? A return to action for Superman may just be the difference between "Superman Return's" ultimately disappointing $200 million (by the skin of its teeth) gross in 2006 and a $300 million plus cume for "Man of Steel" this summer. Zack Snyder's reboot of the greatest superhero of them all promises lots of action and a 21st Century look that was missing from Bryan Singer's almost retro "Returns." Throw in the brand name of producer and story by credited Christopher Nolan and "MoS" is seen as a game changer for any DC Comics character not referred to as the Dark Knight. Now, if the film just happens to pull the heartstrings and become a four quadrant player of epic proportions? Then taking the no. 1 slot from another superhero flick isn't out of the question.
