When I put together a list of my personal top 10 Spielberg films at In Contention last year, I went with "Raiders of the Lost Ark" over "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" for its trailblazing place in history. But the truth? The DIRTY truth? "Temple of Doom" is, always has been, and always will be my favorite Indiana Jones entry. It's pure adventure from the word "go" and seemed to allow itself that spirit more than any other film in the series. "The Last Crusade" would ultimately be a great blend of the best of the first two entries, but this 1984 extravaganza holds a special place for me.
