HitFix ranks the legend's greatest films to date
10. 'Minority Report' (2002)
A year after the release of his polarizing futuristic parable "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence," Spielberg returned with this stunning and darkly beautiful meld of brainy sci-fi, intricate murder mystery and full-blown action spectacle that adapted the short story of the same name by Philip K. Dick. Tom Cruise is excellent as the beleaguered "PreCrime" officer on the run, and Spielberg thrillingly stages his hero's desperate journey with a series of breakneck action setpieces that rank as some of the most breathtaking of his career. In terms of seamlessly combining the visceral and the cerebral into a single package, this could well rank as his greatest achievement to date.
