Skip: Giorgio Moroder, "Deja Vu"
Moroder's master work behind a deck helped define disco, film, and dance music forever. And so, after a long absence from studio work, I want to say that his album return is magnificent. It's not, not really. Moroder's mark is so definite and unmoveable -- even with guests as talented and versatile as Sia, Kelis and Mikky Ekko -- it's overall bland, unblinking, cold and bridled. I love the synth symphonies like "Wildstar" (featuring foxes) and dotted bop of Britney Spears' cover of "Tom's Diner," but that's because they sound like safe imitations of originals. This shouldn't take away from his vast legacy, but it's certainly not adding much new to it.
