9. Fred Armisen
Armisen has taken a slight backseat in recent seasons, due to the time constraints that come from simultaneously producing “Portlandia”. He has still found time to help make “The Californians” the most often performed recurring sketch on the show, for which we should probably ask IFC to up the “Portlandia” order to prevent this sketch from ever airing again. But as the recent “History Of Punk” sketch demonstrated, Armisen has a writing perspective that simply does not exist anywhere else in the cast or writer’s room. He’s more likely to play a small role in a communal sketch these days, but still can unleash some of the most innovative work the show produces.
