1. "Head Over Feet"
Much the way Fleetwood Mac's spiteful, embittered "Rumours" culminates with the romantic jubilation of "You Make Loving Fun," the searing pain of "Jagged Little Pill" finds resolve in the plainspoken, level-headed romance of "Head Over Feet." Featuring perhaps the simplest sentiments on the album, the song is fearless in its quaintness. "You treat me like I'm a princess," Alanis sings, "And I'm not used to liking that." What could be more confounding than finding yourself enjoying the cliche of romance? In a disc that assigns blame to exes, bosses, parents, and usually Alanis herself, it's actually a gorgeous moment when she yelps here, "I couldn't help it / It's all your fault."
