28. Britney Spears: "Piece of Me"
Yes, Virginia, there is such a thing as a pity award. We gave an Oscar to an ill Elizabeth Taylor for "BUtterfield 8," a long-delayed Grammy for Album of the Year to Herbie Hancock for "The Joni Letters," and a Video of the Year Moonman to Britney Spears for ostensibly surviving a horrendous 2007. "Piece of Me" is not even one of Britney's top ten videos. The lyrics are nervy but the video is unassuming, as we watch the superstar bop along to a sick beat while dodging tabloid graphics. "Stronger," "Everytime," and "I'm a Slave 4 U" are all finer choices.
