"Losing My Religion" is perfect marriage of a vocal quality and a visual motif. Michael Stipe's pensive bleat and the aching, shadowy imagery go together so well, and unfortunately the video's religious iconography obscured the song's true (and innocuous) meaning altogether. Give it up to Stipe for his eye-popping, angst-ridden performance aided by one zany dance sequence reportedly inspired by Sinead O'Connor's "The Emperor's New Clothes" video.
