11. Dire Straits: "Money for Nothing"
You play that gee-tar on the MTV in the '80s? Then you're probably going to deliver a traditional concert video or perhaps a flashy spectacle with a hot chick on a car. But if you're Dire Straits, you release a shockingly profane, deeply damning song and video about MTV-era music that makes record execs sound like the worst people on Earth. "We've got to move these color TVs" is the tamest of the CEO-type quotes Mark Knopfler throws at us. Somehow the message of the song is both bolstered and sugar-coated thanks to the video, a kooky animated interpretation of consumerism. Unforgettable, and not just because Sting is cooing the most sardonic line in the song.
