BEST: 'Once Upon a Time'
ABC's smorgasbord of fairy tales and semi-related Disney properties is frequently silly and often seems to prioritize cash-grab tie-ins over narrative necessity. But from Robert Carlyle's Rumplestiltskin to Lana Parrilla's Regina to Ginnifer Goodwin's Snow, "Once Upon a Time" has done a good job dimensionalizing familiar characters in unexpected ways and the juicy roles have often allowed the series to land interesting guest stars for magical scene-stealing. And if you don't especially like a "Once Upon a Time" arc, just stop watching and check back in and maybe the next one will be as good as the Rebecca Mader Wicked Witch storyline. — Daniel Fienberg
