2014 Album of the Year prediction
The nominees are:
“The Blessed Unrest,” Sara Bareilles
“Random Access Memories,” Daft Punk
“Good Kid, M.A.A.D City,” Kendrick Lamar
“The Heist,” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
“Red,” Taylor Swift
WHO’S MISSING: Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience,” Jay Z’s “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” and Kanye West’s “Yeezus.”
THE PLAYERS: Bareilles' “The Blessed Unrest” was the shocker here. The other four were contenders all along. The Grammys love Taylor Swift, but they also like to pretend they are slightly cutting edge, which helped Daft Punk and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis get their nods.
THE ODDS: Swift’s been here before when she won for “Fearless,” but Bareilles’ underdog status could propel her.
THE WINNER: “Red,” Taylor Swift
