Why it's terrible: This ugly fairy tale is a lot to look at, with all the character depth of a "Rocky & Bullwinkle" episode -- inexplicably evil Eastern European villains included. As a love story, it's frustrating to see the "you can't help who you fall in love with" tome hacked out of LaBeouf's titular character, who has the emotional dexterity of a 14-year-old boy: he's sexually anxious, hopelessly devoted to a practically and metaphorically unobtainable "ideal" woman, and comically stupid with his stupid friends. Hell, WE wanted to kill him by the end of it, too.
