Arrested Development: The Movie

Background: "Arrested Development" aired its series finale back in 2006 and ever since there's been talk of the Bluths making a jump to the big screen. At one point or another, every member of the cast has said a version of the same thing: "I really want to do it, I'm just waiting on a script and start date!" and that story has been rewritten, repurposed and retweeted countless times. Meanwhile, Jason Bateman has appeared in 15 movies, Michael Cera has starred in seven movies and Will Arnett has been a regular on three TV series (in addition to numerous guest roles). None of them have been "Arrested Development."

Current status: Mysterious as ever. It looked like real progress was made when the cast reunited in October 2011 at The New Yorker Festival and series creator Mitch Hurwitz announced his new plan to revive the series as a lead-in for the film. Netflix acquired rights to the revival for a planned 2013 premiere and shooting was supposed to take place this summer. There is no evidence that cameras ever started rolling, and with Arnett, Portia de Rossi and Jeffrey Tambor all series regulars on NBC shows ("Up All Night," "Mockingbird Lane" and "Next Caller" respectively) the window seems to be rapidly closing. Nothing would make us happier than more "Arrested Development" in any form we can get it, but right now it still seems as believable as Gob's magic act.
