Why we need 'The Dark Knight Rises' right now
2. To find out who Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard are really playing
Christopher Nolan may be the only filmmaker in Hollywood more devoted to secrecy than JJ Abrams, but he handles things a little differently. He likes to hide his secrets in plain view. In the case of "The Dark Knight Rises," he's been very up front about casting both Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard, and both character names were announced quite a while ago. But fans continue to speculate about the roles the two are actually playing, with many people convinced that Gordon-Levitt is going to become a sidekick of some sort to Bruce Wayne as Batman. They also believe that Cotillard is playing Talia, the daughter of Liam Neeson's "R'has Al-ghul" character. We'll know soon, but no matter what, Nolan's been able to keep people guessing on that one, and in this age of hyper-scrutiny, I admire the sleight-of-hand necessary to keep a secret.
