It's no real secret that Fey has been pursued by the Academy several times in the past, but with her "30 Rock" commitments she was never really available to take the job. And while I can't help but think she'd make the perfect Oscar host - Fey is a master of skirting the razor's edge without ever quite going there - turning down their offers was probably the most responsible move (with such a high-profile gig, you better make sure you have the time to really give it your all). But here's the thing: "30 Rock" is calling it quits next season with an abbreviated 13-episode run - meaning she'll technically, as far as we can tell, have a little more time on her hands come first-quarter 2013. The only question that remains is whether she really wants the gig in the first place.
