Who should host the 85th Academy Awards?
Tina Fey, Hugh Jackman, Sandra Bullock and...Chris O'Dowd?
Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy
Contrary to the beliefs of some (ahem, Adam Carolla), women can be just as funny as men - and "Bridesmaids" trio Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy are some of the funniest female comedians working today. Not only do they all have extensive improvisational chops - which can go a long way in papering over any uncomfortable on-stage moments at the big ceremony - as a threesome they also have an effortless, laid-back chemistry (note their appearance together at the 2012 SAG Awards) that would give a loose feel to an awards show that often comes off stodgy and conventional. And unlike, say, Ricky Gervais or Russell Brand, they aren't bound to stir up any controversy - something the humorless Academy would no doubt appreciate. Nevertheless, all three have only recently become known for their film work, so the Academy could feel it's too early in their movie careers to justify a hosting gig.
