Which Actors Have Won Three Oscars?
Could Daniel Day-Lewis, Denzel Washington, Sally Field or Robert De Niro join them?
Walter Brennan
Finally there's good ole' Walter Brennan. Many may know Brennan from his cooky supporting performances in westerns of the 1950s, but he was winning Oscars long before that. In fact, there was a period of time it seemed he couldn't lose, winning for his first three nominations and every other year at that! And for a while, for 25 years in fact, he was alone in the threefer club. He would end up receiving one more nomination the year after his final prize and it seemed the Academy was done with him after that, but talk about burning big and bright for a period of time. Brennan never did get notice as a leading man, but of course, that was never really his bag.
