The reigning queen of the Oscar tally so far, and probably unlikely to be joined any time soon, is Katharine Hepburn. She collected four trophies over her six-decade career and even won two of them back-to-back. She received 12 nominations all told, winning on her first and last three attempts. She also never once showed up to collect in person. They were also all for Best Actress. Indeed, Hepburn was a leading lady from day one, never nominated for supporting.

"Morning Glory" (1933) - Best Actress
"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" (1967) - Best Actress
"The Lion in Winter" (1968) - Best Actress
"On Golden Pond" (1981) - Best Actress
