TV Shows on the Bubble 2013
From 'Community' to 'Happy Endings' to 'Hannibal' how are things looking?
BubbleWatch: ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy'
SHOW: "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC)
IN ITS FAVOR: In addition to reliably finishing either first or second in a competitive hour among adults 18-49, "Grey's Anatomy" remains one of TV's most powerful dramas when you add in DVR figures. For the season, the Shonda Rhimes drama averages a 3.1 key demo rating in Live+Same Day, basically neck-and-neck with CBS' "Person of Interest." add +7 DVR totals and "Grey's Anatomy" goes to a 4.8 rating and "Person of Interest" is down at 4.5 rating. Even after more than 190 episodes and countless cast shifts, "Grey's Anatomy" is healthy, creatively and with viewers.
AGAINST IT: It seems like there are cast negotiations every year and, after nine seasons, "Grey's Anatomy" has to cost ABC a pretty penny. There's also always the possibility Rhimes and some of the bigger stars may just be ready to move on to other things.
OUR TOTALLY UNINFORMED GUESS: "Grey's Anatomy" is a cornerstone of ABC's schedule, anchoring a valuable hour on a valuable night and doing it well. There have been no rumblings that Rhimes and company are ready to end the show, so a renewal is a certainty.
FINAL VERDICT: Renewed!
