BubbleWatch: ABC's 'GCB'

SHOW: "GCB" (ABC)

IN ITS FAVOR: Since premiering in March, "GCB" has delivered steady-ish ratings and has improved on the later performances from "Pan Am." The show has some pockets of critical support, though maybe not loud or passionate pockets.

AGAINST IT: Probably ABC doesn't care about the "Is 'GCB' anti-Southern?" or the "Is 'GCB' anti-Christian?" complaints, but they don't help matters. Also not helping? Merely being better than "Pan Am" in the ratings isn't saying much. ABC has had a number of successes this year, which makes it hard to spin the low numbers for "GCB" as anything other than disappointing. With "Scandal" holding up well on Thursdays, the tepid performance for "GCB" looks even less impressive.

OUR TOTALLY UNINFORMED GUESS: On the scale of ABC midseason offerings, "GCB" has done better than "The River," worse than "Scandal" and "Missing" is a whole different conversation about performance-relative-to-time-period and demographics and, perhaps most importantly, international value. "GCB" is unlikely to have much international clout. Barring an uptick in the next couple weeks, it seems like a weird show to renew.

VERDICT: Cancelled!
