10 TV shows we want to see back on the small screen
Which classic series are headed to the remake factory next?
'M*A*S*H*'
Premise: Inspired by the 1970 Robert Altman film (which was itself based on a book), the series was a darkly funny medical drama set at a mobile army surgical hospital (thus, MASH) during the Korean War.
Original airdates: 1972-1983
Why a reboot: Though it may be sacrilege to remake one of the great sitcoms, this longrunning classic (the finale of which is still considered the highest rated single episode of television ever) might actually benefit from an update. While the creators of the original were forced to use a laugh track, it's no longer a must for comedies. Plenty of other sitcoms have since co-opted the original's sometimes bleak gallows humor, too. We say set it during the Iraq War instead of the Korean War, add a more ethnically diverse cast and lightning could strike twice.
